How dangerous is frustration?
2023 05 29Do you remember Aesop's fable in which the hungry fox, unable to shake off the grapes hanging high above, walked away and shouted, "Not ripe!"? Do you know people who, have failed to achieve their goal, blamed everyone around but not themselves? Such people feel frustrated, dissatisfied - frustrated.
Frustration (actio frustra in Latin) is an empty action where energy is used and no result is obtained, whether economic or personal. Nature is so ordered that everything that functions in it must produce some result. Therefore, not achieving a goal makes a person feel bad, and that is where psychological problems are born.
If the result is not achieved, the person can choose one of two paths:
- adjust his actions: make more effort or take up another activity that is functional;
- repeating Aesop's fable: if I can't reach the grapes, they become sour, unripe, unpalatable, and there is nothing to reach for them.
Unfortunately, there are many more people who follow Aesop's fable. Worst of all, they start undermining others and destroying any goals, undermining their values. And all those who have achieved something become a scourge to them and a living reproach for having been lazy, for not having done something, for having been scared. They avoid accepting their responsibility and defend themselves by saying, "It's the fault of others". The problem is that it is easier for them to suffer than to take any decisive step.
If one does not take action, the frustration sinks into the subconscious and does its black work with even greater force. Of course, life has its trials, challenges and momentary frustrations - they are not dangerous. But a truly frustrated person will always, however unconsciously, create artificial obstacles for others. It is therefore important to be attentive and learn to recognise a frustrated person, especially if you are taking on serious projects.
