- Aesthetics Tasting with Laura Bohne
October 2024, Kaunas
The educational club "Aesthetics Sommelier" held its second aesthetic tasting, which took place at the rug gallery "Lauros namai."Here, we visited, admired, explored, and listened to discussions about the value, quality, and symbolism of oriental rugs. "Aesthetics helps us navigate space – the more you refine your aesthetic sense, the more you know, the better you understand and appreciate the beauty and quality of objects. What we see and experience in an aesthetic environment helps us become more authentic people," said certified oriental rug expert Laura Bohne.
We share moments from the aesthetic tasting. The photographers were Greta Greičiūnaitė and Gabrielius Laurinaitis.
Event schedule:
- Space perception, searching for objects that attract the eye and body the most, exploring them with all our senses; reflecting on why these objects attracted us and which of their features resonate with us.
- The history of oriental rugs. How does knowledge change our experience?
- Salon conversation-discussion with Laura about the impact of aesthetics on humans.
- Reflection circle: What changed after this meeting? What new insights about aesthetics did we discover for ourselves?
"My first oriental rug, originating from the northern Caucasus, was in my childhood home and belonged to my great-grandmother. It is no longer here, but I still remember the geometric patterns. And the feeling that the rug seemed to belong to everyone. I believe that my aesthetic needs were inherited from my great-grandparents. An aesthetically pleasing and beautiful environment helps me focus." / Laura Bohne /
